How does Store Auditor know which app a script belongs to?
We match each blocking script against a fingerprint database of Shopify apps based on their script hosts, CDN paths, global variable names, and Theme App Extension blocks. When a script can be attributed to a named installed app, we attribute it. Anything ambiguous is grouped as 'unattributed third-party' so it's never silently lumped into the wrong vendor.
Is the scan safe to run on a live store?
Yes. Store Auditor uses Shopify's read-only OAuth scopes (
read_themes, read_script_tags, read_products, read_analytics, read_reports) and runs Lighthouse against your public storefront the same way Google's PageSpeed Insights does. We never write to your theme, products, or orders.How often do scans run?
On the Free plan you can run one full audit per month. Pro runs unlimited on-demand scans across every storefront page (home, product, collection, cart) on both mobile and desktop. Plus adds scheduled scans, multi-store dashboards, and API access.
Do I get specific fixes, or just a problem list?
Specific fixes. Each recommendation names the exact app, the proposed change (defer, lazy-load, move to web pixels, replace, etc.), the blocking time it removes, and the merchant-visible impact. You can hand the list to a developer or work it yourself.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Shopify fires the
shop/redact webhook 48 hours after uninstall. We honor it: all scan history and shop metadata is hard-deleted from our database. You can also request immediate deletion at any time by emailing dan@defyn.com.au.Is there a free trial?
